Every large 401(k) plan files a Form 5500 with the Department of Labor. Each page here turns one of those filings into plain facts: assets, participants, plan-paid fees ranked against plans of the same size, and the recordkeeper, with the source filing linked. No surveys, no estimates.
All 57,824 of them are here, one page each, covering 56,422 employers. Some file more than one plan. Looking for a specific employer? Use the search on the home page.
The Department of Labor takes this long form only from plans with 100 participants or more. A smaller plan files a short form that reports far less, and it is not in this data at all.
The table below is the top of the list this site submits to search engines. Every other plan is listed too, by size, under the state its sponsor files from, under its industry, or you can browse by who keeps the records.
